World’s Most Typical Person

As part of “Seven Billion,” project National Geographic went on a search for the most typical human face. After crunching the numbers, they discovered their candidate: a 28-year-old Han Chinese male. As part of its project, National Geographic set out to figure out what constitutes the most typical attributes of human beings. After combing through the stats, they determined that the most typical person is Chinese, as 19% of humanity is, and speaks Mandarin -- as 13% of people do. The typical human is also Christian, holds a service job and lives in an urban environment. In addition to age, gender, and ethnicity, this person would also possess a few more typical attributes. He would need to be right-handed.

To figure out what the most typical human looks like, Nat Geo contacted the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which combined photos of 190,000 of the world’s 9-million-plus 28-year-old Han Chinese men collected over the course of a decade into a single composite image.
